Let's just take a moment for some cuteness.
Kelsi and I can't wait to hang out with these kiddos tomorrow!
Today we joined Molly and Susan at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. This was our first time at the church, and we found that it had many similarities to a traditional WELS church in America. The church possessed a homey ambiance and a small, inviting congregation. After church, several people approached us to welcome us to Zambia. All of the comments were very friendly, with the exception of one: "You will get fat in Zambia." Kelsi and I were not sure how to respond to that one!
After church we stopped at the Arcades shopping center to check out the weekly market. I thought that I had gotten my fill of bartering on Saturday, but apparently I can't get enough! Several of the vendors recognized me and Kelsi from yesterday. ("Ah! My friend! Come over here, I have something special for you.") Kelsi and I were drawn like moths to the flame to the beautiful artwork, and we struggled to choose paintings for friends and family. Our souvenirs are now decoratively placed throughout our house, which is gradually gaining the characteristics of an African market.
Although we planned to swim at the pool of the Italian International School (where Susan teaches), rain struck yet again. It passed after a few hours, though, and we enjoyed another beautiful day in Lusaka. As Kelsi mentioned yesterday, we are researching where to go and what to do throughout Zambia and Malawi in the coming months. God willing, we will go to Livingstone within the next few weeks to see Victoria Falls. The more we read about the Seventh Natural Wonder of the World, the more excited we get! God is so good, and we are so blessed to be in Africa, seeing the depth of his creativity and power.
Good night and God's blessings!
