And the countdown of hours begins until the celebration
of Christ’s victory over death for us!
Mel and I spent the day grocery shopping with Susan and Mollie for
tomorrow’s celebration and for the week to come. On Tuesday we are heading to Kafue National
Park for a two-night camping trip!
Yesterday we attended the Good Friday service at Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church. This entire Lenten
journey we are reminded…
How Jesus endured all of our pain and suffering for
us. He was stripped of his garments,
spit at, and beaten. He was despised and suffered everything we deserve.
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they
are doing.” Luke 23:34
I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in Paradise." Luke 23:43
"Jesus said to his mother: 'Woman, this is your son.' Then he said to his disciple: 'This is your mother.'" John 19:26-27
"Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Matthew 27:46
"I am thirsty." John 19:28
"It is finished." John 19:30
"Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last." Luke 23:46
"It is finished." John 19:30
"Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last." Luke 23:46
And yet I am selfish enough to keep doing what pleases
me. I am consumed by all the things that
are not good for me-things that don’t show praise, love, and glory to God.
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that
in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
Thank you Jesus for living this perfect life for us and
for suffering the awful death that we may live eternally with you in heaven!!!!
Help me to grow in your word and live a life that is pleasing to you.
Tomorrow’s Easter celebration will be like none Mel and
I have ever experienced. Although the celebration
with family will be missed, we are thankful to be welcomed into Mr. and Mrs.
Birner’s home for an Easter fellowship and dinner. How absolutely amazing it is to know that the
same God who sent his son to die for the sins of those we know back home also
was sent to die for the sins of the people here. God surely is a God of love!
God’s blessings on the day we proclaim, “Christ is
risen. He is risen indeed!”
Happy Easter! You are missed. Have a great day.
